Compared to conventional gas nitriding, PST surface treatment provides greater surface hardness (HRc 71~75, versus HRc 62~66), and due to its low temperature process, PST does not create distortion and size changes that gas nitriding might create. PST also does not increase brittleness and surface cracks.
Compared to conventional PVD coating, PST surface treatment does not create size changes (~0 µm, versus 1~5 µm). PST also does not delaminate after use or regrinding.
Compared to conventional PVD coating, PST surface treatment treats all surfaces of the tooling evenly and does not suffer from line-of-sight issues.
